Classic brand, classic Cuban-esque flavor
With its origins in 19th century Cuba, Hoyo de Monterrey has remained one of the most recognized names in the business, boasting the very best in quality and flavor. After the embargo, however, production moved to Honduras in the late ‘60s, and the cigars are now rolled in the famous Villazon Factory. Carefully-created by the legendary Estelo Padrón – brother to the famous José O. Padrón of Padrón Cigars – Estelo is also responsible for other noteworthy pre-Castro brands, such as Punch.
A superb example of Honduran craftsmanship and classic Cuban flavor, enjoy the ‘91’ rated Hoyo Excalibur Epicure (5.2”x50) for less than $3 per cigar through April 30th!
Excalibur has been praised as “one of the finest Hondurans” according to Cigar Aficionado, and rightfully so, as the top 10% of crops grown in Nicaragua and Honduras are reserved for this line. Medium in body, the unique blend of tobaccos gives this cigar a luxuriously long finish, and a creamy aroma. While production has moved from Cuba, the traditional cultivation and natural fermentation process originally utilized by Hoyo de Monterrey has not changed, resulting in a handmade with nuances of natural sugar, bread, raw cocoa, and ripe berries on the palate.
